Sell stamps and coins

Did you inherit a stamp or coins collection? Do you want to sell the collection?

We are especially looking for:

  • rare stamps of Austria and Europe
  • collections of all over the world
  • accumulation of postal history

Here is how it works (Please klick on the guideline-points below):

We are interested in rare stamps with a certificate, entire collections and old stamps (before 1954). 
For a first assessment we need detailed information about your pieces:

  • From where and when are the stamps?
  • How many albums does the collection contain?
  • Are the stamps used or unused?
  • Are you in possession of any certificates or other documents that proof the authenticity of the stamp?
  • Do you own any lists or documents which contain pricelists, the origin of the rarity and in which year the stamp has been published?

We are not interested in collections of childhood or modern collections (after 1954).

A consignment should have a minimum value of 2000 Euro and the average price for single lots should be 100 Euro.

If your collection meets our requirements for the auction, our experts will be available to you for a detailed examination of your stamps. Additionally, we offer consultation through our experts in order to make to the right decisions in the following process:

  • Consultation in our office in Vienna
  • Consultation through email
  • Consultation through WhatsApp
  • Consultation and pick up of your collection at your destination (only for exceptionally rare and valuable pieces)

Should it come to a consignment of your stamps, collections or letters, you will enter into an auction contract with Viennafil. By concluding this contract, you instruct us to sell the items at the highest possible price in the next auction.

Only in exceptional cases we purchase collections or rare single items. In case of direct sale, you will receive the agreed amount immediately in cash or by bank transfer.

Your collection will be divided into single lots, and the descriptions will be prepared by our philatelic experts depending on the area, in German, Italian, or English.

The single lots are usually illustrated in the auction or online catalogue.
Specialized collections are presented in high-quality special catalogues.

Our leaf and online catalogues are published on our website and through our social networks, reaching our international customer network.

Our auction catalogues are distributed in large numbers to our clients worldwide. In addition, we promote our auctions at numerous fairs in Austria and abroad, as well as in the philatelic trade press.

Our public auctions take place twice a year at our office in Vienna. Up to 100 collectors are present at our public auctions, hundreds of passionate collectors place their bids at our auction through our “Live Bidding”option, or are represented by bidding agents in the auction hall.

The price realized of our public auctions are published on our website after each auction.
The unsold lots are available at the starting price + buyer’s premium. The unsold lots are available at least for 4 weeks. Discounts are usually not possible. Please consult the list of unsold lots and send us a request.

Six weeks after the auction, the provisional results statement will be sent.
The final settlement and payment of the net proceeds are usually made from the fourth month after the auction has taken place.
Unsold lots can be carried over to the next auction.
