to the President of the American College in Rome, Italy, franked
with two singles of the 2 cents brown (Jackson) and 10 cents brown
(Jefferson), tied with a black fancy cancel and also with the red
"NEW YORK MAY 11/4", beside "SAN JOSE CAL, MAY 3" and red "P.D.",
the letter also bears the postmark of Aachen "Wfr. 1 1/2"
