1853, entire lettersheet dated 29.10.1853 from Newcastleton (Scotland) (rectangular postmark on reverse) via Leith and Liverpool to Owen Sound (Canada West), franked with embossed 1 s. deep green, cut octangular, tied with a indistinct postmark, handwritten in red "paid /1/", taxed on arrival with "10" (c), also written "per Canadian Mail Packet"; on reverse various transit postmarks, a very interesting cover (SG. 56, £ 1.800).
